Echo is a retelling of The Greek Myth of Echo and Narcissus. A story of greed, pain, loss, and perseverance. Our retelling of Echo is done through an emphasis on the female experience, heightened text, and modern dance. At the crossroads of Shakespeare, classic Greek text, and Sarah Ruhl's poetry- you will find Echo. Where words are too much, dance takes over to show us a window into the character's inner thoughts and depth of emotion. A dynamic ensemble is found in our Chorus that amplifies the twists and turns of our tragic story.

Through the guise of a Greek Myth, traditional Greek theatre devices, and modern dance storytelling; we’re brought to the crossroads where love and pain exist. We see the disastrous effects of men in power and privilege, enabled by those around them. A breeding ground for narcissism, avoidant discarding, and the betrayal of those only wanting to love.

In a world where our voices and choices are being controlled and limited by those in power, what do we do? Echo is a play about the choices women are faced with when their voices are taken away, told through the Greek Myth of Echo and Narcissus. The systems and behavior put in place to limit, harm, and degrade women are felt in multitudes across time and place. It is an unfortunate togetherness that women feel around the world, but it is together that will allow us to break free from the people and institutions meant to oppress us.

While our country is suspended in a time of division and uncertainty, Echo reminds us of the importance of love, perseverance, and standing up for those whose voice is silenced. As we see our story unfold onstage, I hope you are able to look within and challenge yourself, your preconceptions, and the space and support you hold for the women in your life.

To my dearest cast, my loving family, and unwavering friends- Thank you. You are all the best of me, without you, this piece doesn’t exist. Thank you for guiding me out of the dark and opening my eyes to beauty of life again. To women’s voices everywhere-no longer silent.

Echo was thrilled to be a part of The New York Theatre Festival 2025 series, with over 100 productions. Amber Weissert, the playwright and director, won Best Director of the festival. Echo was beyond honored to win Best Production overall of the festival.  Nine time nominee for the 2025 Broadway Theatre World Awards in the Off-Off Broadway category.
